Another good yard day!

Flowers
Wow, it's a day away from May. Amazing! A visitor writing to me last week about something she had found here on Little Delving (booty!) graciously pointed out that it appeared as if I may have disappeared from the web entirely, if one were to judge from this 'news' section of Little Delving. LOL! Point taken. I've been a bit wrapped up in this first part of the year so far. Just had a few Things To Do, and so I've been away and occupied. But this morning I thought I'd pop in to say hey, offer a Spring Update, and let you know what's been going on.

I managed to get most of the inside of the house painted this winter, Yay, me! That was a project long over due, and, honestly, it might still be over due had not V come for a visit in March. Nothing like having company to motivate, LOL! Not that V would have minded (at all) seeing the house just as it was, but I really wanted to show her more of what the house could be, more of how it was in my mind's eye. So I dropped everything and for about a two week period I focused on giving the place the fresh coat of paint it so sorely needed. We (ah, the Royal We again) went with a nice 'swan white'. It fit the bill nicely.

The real plus to getting the inside painted was that finally I was ready to unpack all of my art work and get it hanging on the walls! Believe me, that makes a huge difference in the whole feel of the place now. It went from being a nice house to a warm and cozy Home. Just like that. And considering I'd been living here now for some two years it really was about time. Oi, two years...

The other big plus was my library. Just before tackling the paint job I had new laminate floors put in both the 3rd bedroom and in the dining area. They look Wonderful! And then with the 3rd bedroom floored and painted, it magically became The Library. Very cool. I picked up a 3rd book case, unpacked the several boxes of books I had stacked in there (for two years again, mind you) and spent probably a two full days shelving and organizing until the room finally felt completely pulled together and finished. I now have a library, and it feels really, really good. I've always said that for anyone to get to know me, really get to know me, all they would need to do is spend time perusing my book, music, and movie collections. That is such a perfect snapshot of any person's interests, a true inside glimpse I think of what a person thinks and feels about their world. Having my books boxed up for the past two years was a very strange feeling. Not me for sure. It feels so much better now to have them all out and breathing and patiently waiting there for my next visit. It is a Good Thing.

So I was a busy guy there for awhile, and then V came and stayed with me for about a week and a half. We had a great time! Perfect again, and we realized that we fit together pretty much like peas in a pod.
That's a Really Good Thing. Happy

And so now we are making plans for the future which (like all plans for the future) are a bit undefined in the finer details, but which at the least appear for now to involve a move to Scotland for me and the kitty pirate crew ^-^ most likely in 2011. Yes, Scotland. How perfect is that? LOL! So we shall see. As V and I always say, "Wait & see, we're good at that."

In the mean time, with the weather being so lovely here so far this spring it's been a major yard fest this past month or so. Winter was about the inside, and spring is now about the outside. Major landscaping chores to do, most of which have now been completed. *whew* It's another good yard day here today, and just two more tasks left requiring much wheelbarrowing of materials here and there and one patch of yard left requiring many seeds to be planted. That's pretty much it. And then I plan to spend the middle of
Butterfly
May painting my front porch and back deck. After that the house will truly look like a Home inside and out, and I can then spend the rest of my spring and summer watching everything grow and enjoying it.

My good friend David (from Taiwan) is visiting in early June, so I'm using that as my deadline to get all of this done. Company and Motivation again, it really does work! For any of you interested in seeing the progress, just drop back in around mid-June or so, I promise I'll have posted a nice set of pictures showing all the changes here at Little Delving. Looking back on it all now and seeing what's been done, I guess these last two years really haven't been wasted.

I didn't slack off as much as I had thought.

I hope all of you are having a good spring and a good year! Pictures in June, stop by and again and say hello!    JB
PS - Happy Queen's Day, V! Wish I could be running around today in Utrecht with you. Happy
